Bumbling Boris

10/09/2019

Our Prime Minister has now prorogued parliament and an inappropriate time and for an extraordinary period, whilst the vast majority of MPs were clearly appalled at the move and had voiced their objections.

Boris claims to be running the country, but having lost every vote in the House of Commons and been instructed:

  • to request an extension to Article 50 if he doesn't obtain an agreeable deal from the EU; and

  • to insure that the findings of project Yellow Hamer are shared so that parliament can assess the information and be informed about the risks.

Johnson has also been tripping around the country on an advance campaign trial for the election he hasn't been allowed to call.

At some of his carefully orchestrated press conferences, he has repeatedly affirmed the need to leave the EU by the 31st October or face the danger of people losing faith in the UK's democracy.

This is, quite frankly, laughable.

The fact is, that the lies and illegal activity undertaken by the Vote Leave and LeaveEU campaigns have already destroyed faith in democracy.

The meddling by Russia, the illegal activity of Cambridge Analytica and the use of Facebook to target voters with misleading and xenophobic adverts on the social media platform are all factors in the demise of trust in politics and politicians.

Democracy in the UK, as in the US, is broken.

One interesting point to consider, is the fact that Boris and the Brexiteers have repeatedly said that a second vote would be undemocratic; that we must respect the outcome of the 2016 referendum; even though the campaigners promised the deal would be easy and that we would be better off, which is clearly not the case.

And yet, Boris Johnson called for a fresh vote on an early general election just days after having lost such a vote in the House of Commons.

So, whilst refusing the British population a second vote on Brexit when over three years have passed and far more information is known, Johnson wanted (and had) a second vote on an early general election in a matter of days when there was no new information.

Both his refusal for a 'people's vote' and his double challenge for an October election, apparently, are based upon upholding democracy.

You can't make this stuff up!

It is just more lies and disinformation from the man who has betrayed himself, his family and the whole nation in his desperate need to become Prime Minister.

His is not fit to be the UK's Prime Minister and should, instead, be facing prosecution for the crime of 'Misconduct in Public Office'.

Rather than doing his job, Johnson is spending his time playing at being Prime Minister; cheesy photo calls at schools and with police officers.

His prorogation of parliament is a cynical political ploy to try and allow him time to prevent parliament doing its job. I just hope that the MPs manage to stop him from going ahead with a no-deal Brexit and, instead, force him to obtain a deal and present that deal to the country.
