I actually didn't believe what I was reading the I saw the story about the eRosary on the BBC News website. I actually scanned back to the top of the page to see if I was reading an April Fool's Day story by accident.
When I looked at this, the promotional screenshots on the Apple App Store actually said:
"CLICK TO PRAY eROSARY - For Peace in the World"
I was, quite simply, staggered. So desperate are the Vatican to attract new, young worshippers, that they've created a gadget to hook more people on religion and find another way of obtaining money.
I'm sure I will face criticism for pouring scorn on this idea, but I would have thought the Pope would have been better instructing his followers to sort the abuse within the Catholic Church; not just over past centuries but also in relatively recent times. The fact there are still representatives of the Catholic Church evading punishment for their crimes against children and unwed mothers should be their main focus.
