Droitwich Bookshop Owners Continue To Flout Restrictions; Claiming 'A God Given Right'

13/02/2021

The owners of a book and card shop in Worcestershire have claimed a "God-given right to earn an honest living." However, rather than earn an 'honest living', they have continually broke the law, by opening their shop in breach of the regulations established to protect the public during the coronavirus pandemic.

Lydia and Alasdair Walker-Cox, the owners of Grace Cards and Books in Droitwich, have been fined five times for repeatedly breaching the restrictions in place for non-essential shops. The astonishing ignorance and greed of this couple is staggering and it seems that the action taken so far has been insufficient to ensure their compliance with the rules.

It would appear that harsher penalties are needed to protect communities from idiots like these.

As part of their business, they would appear to have a specialised balloon business, Droitwich Balloons.

I'm guessing that they hope to sell 'get well' balloons to those who fall ill as a result of their selfish actions.

The stupidity of these people is difficult to understand. The retail sector has definitely been hit hard by the pandemic, but there is support available and here are alternative ways of selling products that don't involve stubbornly risking the lives of those in the community.

Online sales and phone based sales, combined with delivery or safe pickup, provide an opportunity to maintain a successful relationship with customers, without breaking the rules or risking the health of staff and customers.

The government, for all their mistakes, have established various schemes to help business owners. However, rather than operate in a legal manner and adopt safer practices, this couple appear hell bent on sticking two fingers up to authority.

What has to be done to make these people see sense?
