Idiotic Nationalists Reject Pfizer Vaccine; "I'll Wait For The English One" They Say

06/02/2021

Just when you thought the ugliness of nationalism couldn't get any worse in the UK, doctors have reported instances where patients have rejected the coronavirus vaccine, when they discovered it was from US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech.

Dr Paul Williams, a GP working in Teesside, has said that more than ten people had been heard to refuse the Pfizer vaccine, which was the first to be approved for use, saying "I'll wait for the English one."

Nationalism is an ugly stain that is spreading across the UK, but especially in England, even quicker than COVID-19. The fact that even one of these xenophobic idiots would say such a stupid thing should be a concern. For one doctor to hear it so many times should be cause for embarrassment to those who live in the North East. In fact, I live in the South and I'm ashamed to come from the same country as these xenophobes.

The Prime Minister has some responsibility for this mindset, due to his repeated nationalistic drivel. Downing Street apparently attempted to get doses of the Oxford vaccine labelled with an image of the union jack, but the request was rejected. I realise that nationalism is a disease that spreads hate and that many people will say this hate is more dangerous than a dozen idiots refusing the 'non-English' vaccine. This might not, for them and many others, seem like a major issue. However, I am actually worried that more and more idiots will also decide to 'wait for the English' vaccine, which might seem especially stupid given some of the 'English vaccines will actually have been manufactured outside of the UK.

Just as many nationalists ranted about wanting to be out of the EU, even if it meant increased shopping bills and potential job losses, there will be some that hear about people refusing the Pfizer vaccine and will jump on the jingoistic bandwagon. These idiots should be asked to wear a large 'British flag' hat made out of a carrier bag, just so that the rest of us can spot them at a distance and give them a wide berth.
