Trump's Pardon For Michael Flynn Is Further Evidence Of His Wanton Abuse Of Power

26/11/2020

We're now counting the weeks before America is finally freed from the disease that is the orangutan president and, whilst he seems to be spending even more time on the golf course rather than at work, he hasn't stopped abusing his position.

Trump has pardoned his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.

Mr Flynn was among the new president's first appointments and Trump brought him on just days after winning the election; almost immediately after former President Obama cautioned against employing him. However, he lasted just 23 days as national security adviser; POTUS's chief counsellor on international affairs and defence. He was fired as he had discussed lifting sanctions on Russia with Moscow's ambassador to Washington, before Trump took office, and then lied t the vice-president about that conversation.

Mr Flynn was convicted during a justice department inquiry into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election. He had not been sentenced.

Noah Bookbinder, executive director of the nonprofit government watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), said the Flynn pardon “once again shows that to Donald Trump, ‘law and order’ does not apply to his wealthy white allies, it was merely a racist dog whistle meant to win him political support.

Adam Schiff, the Democratic chair of the House intelligence committee, wrote on Twitter: Donald Trump has repeatedly abused the pardon power to reward friends and protect those who covered up for him. This time he pardons Michael Flynn, who lied to hide his dealings with the Russians. It’s no surprise that Trump would go out as he came in – Crooked to the end.

Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House, called itan act of grave corruption and a brazen abuse of power”.

The White House, however, said that the pardon would finally end "the relentless, partisan pursuit of an innocent man". But, innocent men don't plead guilty.

Flynn responded via Twitter:

Flynn's reference to Jeremiah 1:19 is worthy of some questioning. The verse reads: "'They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,' declares the Lord." Does this mean that he thinks that President Chump is 'the Lord'? Or is he suggesting that it was 'God', not America's worst ever president, who had really granted him a pardon?

My serious hope is that the orangutan president is soon brought to justice for not only his crimes as president, but those he has committed throughout his ugly life; plagued by illegitimate acts and obscene behaviour.
