We Can Still, And Must, Stop Brexit

06/01/2018

Delusional as ever, Jeremy Corbyn seems bewildered as he stumbles from one weak position to another. He has long been anti-EU and rather than just be honest and tell the British people that he doesn't care how we leave, just so long as we leave, he continues to spout nonsense about what should happen.

The one thing that remains clear, is he is steadfastly against allowing the electorate a final say on what happens in respect of our EU membership. This doesn't appear to be based on the usual poppycock about the betrayal of democracy and the British people, just simply down to the fact that he cannot gain any political advantage from supporting a 'People's Vote'; especially at this late stage.

Right now, Corbyn seems intent on keeping the pressure on Theresa May; perhaps in the knowledge that he would be as incapable as our Prime Minister in negotiating a Brexit deal which is markedly better than the current deal on the table.

Corbyn has apparently said: "What we will do is vote against having no deal, we’ll vote against Theresa May’s deal; at that point she should go back to Brussels and say, ‘This is not acceptable to Britain’ and renegotiate a customs union, form a customs union with the European Union to secure trade.”

Does that actually make any sense?

Having got to the point where we have, as I write this, just 82 days until the UK is due to leave the EU, it seems pretty stupid to expect the Prime Minister to be able to negotiate a better deal and get it passed in time.

Corbyn is simply attempting to distract attention from his own lack of credibility.

We, as a nation, are standing on the edge of a precipice.

Our Prime Minister, Theresa May, does not believe in our exit from the EU and is struggling to convince anyone that she has presented a deal that works for anyone; regardless of how they voted. She stupidly took up the challenge of 'fixing' Brexit after David Cameron's resignation and has, unsurprisingly, failed to achieve it.

The Leader of the Opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, seems intent on ignoring the actual issue facing the country and instead trying to con the British public into believing that there are other things that are more important to think about. Rather than accepting responsibility for opposing the government when it is taking the wrong course, he is focused on his own selfish needs.

As I write that, the similarity between Corbyn and Trump (who are obviously completely at odds with each other) seems striking. Both of them are so self obsessed as to be oblivious to the realities of life.

There isn't really an alternative, is there?

The only party of significance that isn't set on ushering us out of the EU, is the Liberal Democrats. They are led by someone who, as much as they might be considered a 'safe pair of hands', does not inspire people to join the party.

However, the Liberal Democrats are the only honest 'for the people' political party that can be considered to have any chance of saving us from the madness of Brexit.

In 2018, I became a member of the Liberal Democrats. I pay a small monthly fee to cover the cost of my membership. I'd encourage more people to do the same.

You can join the Liberal Democrats by clicking the logo on the right. You can make a difference.

You can help stop the insanity of allowing those who lied during the referendum campaign, who breached electoral rules and spending limits, from deciding our future.

It is time to make a stand.

It is time to look to the future.

It is time to think of our children; and of their children and those children who will be born over the coming decades.

Let's take back control.

I'm not talking about taking back control from the EU. That was just the lies of the elite and those who sought to gain from us leaving the most successful trading block in the world.

I'm talking about taking back control from the media barons, from those politicians who only seek to feather their own nests and the millionaires / billionaires who are set to reap rewards from our misery.

We should ensure we have a proper vote on the outcome of the Brexit debacle.

We should ensure we make politicians and political influencers answer for their lies and illegal activity. The likes of Johnson and Farage need to face charges for 'Misconduct in Public Office'. Perhaps, if we make them answer for their betrayal, lies and illegal activity, we will have the opportunity to restore faith in democracy.

Join the call for a second vote. Join the fight for the future.
